According to Le Monde, the far-right party Rassemblement National (RN) in France is drafting a bill to utilize surplus nuclear power for Bitcoin mining. The position of the party's leader, Marine Le Pen, has changed significantly: in 2016, she called for a ban on cryptocurrencies, arguing that they were tools of the elite and Wall Street; by 2022, she shifted to support regulation; and now, in 2025, she officially supports the production of cryptocurrencies.

The new bill will leverage excess electricity from EDF's nuclear plants to operate Bitcoin mining computer systems. RN MP Aurélien Lopez-Liguori stated that this is a "safe and extremely profitable solution," while emphasizing that RN has a completely opposite approach to the Green parties regarding energy issues.
